Wrong Way Detection Installations: Lisbon, Norwich, New London

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing wrong way detection installation projects in various locations in District 2.

 

The project consists of upgrades at locations in Lisbon, Norwich, and New London at the following:

  • Lisbon starting on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 | 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
    • I-395 Exit 21B southbound off-ramp
    • I-395 Exit 21 northbound off-ramp

 

  • Norwich starting on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 | 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
    • Exit 14 southbound off-ramp from I-395

 

  • New London starting on Wednesday, February 15, 2024 | 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
    • I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 1 south

LANE CLOSURE INFO/DETOUR INFO

 

I-395 Exit 21B southbound off-ramp

Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the Exit 21B southbound off-ramp from I-395 in Lisbon. A detour will be in place at this location. Traffic will be detoured to the Exit 21A (Route 12) off-ramp. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

 

 

I-395 Exit 21 northbound off-ramp

Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the Exit 21 northbound off-ramp from I-395 in Lisbon. A detour will be in place at this location. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 22 Northbound to Exit 22 southbound back onto Exit 21A/B. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

 

 

Exit 14 southbound off-ramp from I-395

Motorists can expect a ramp closure to occur at the Exit 14 southbound off-ramp from I-395 in Norwich. A detour will be in place at this location. Traffic will be detoured from I-395 southbound to Exit 13 to Route 2 at Exit 28 southbound to Exit 14 northbound. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the work beginning. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

 

 

I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 1 south

Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the I-95 southbound off ramp to Route 1 south (Colman Street) in New London. Traffic will be detoured to the Briggs Street off-ramp, take a left onto Briggs Street and go over I-95, take a left onto the Frontage Road on ramp and follow Frontage Road back to Colman Street. Variable message boards will be set approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

 

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
