Tree Removal on Service Road 482 (East River Road) in Barkhamsted

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing tree removal will take place on Service Road 482 (East River Road) in Barkhamsted starting Thursday, May 30 through Friday, June 28, 2024. The project consists of the removal of hazardous trees on Service Road 482 (East River Road).

To ensure the safety of the public, CTDOT is removing dead, diseased, and decaying trees. Additionally, trees and vegetation that have grown into the clear zone, which is the safe space along the side of the roadway, are also being removed. This work helps save lives in the event of a crash or vehicle leaving the roadway.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect a road closure on Service Road 482 (East River Road) from the Route 20 junction down to the entrance of the Peoples State Park entrance (2.4-mile span).  Traffic will be detoured from Route 318 to Route 181 to Route 20 for northbound traffic, Route 20 to Route 181 to Route 318 for southbound traffic. The normal work schedule for this project is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
