The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a traffic highway signing replacement and exit renumbering on Route 8 in Ansonia, Bridgeport, Derby, Shelton, Torrington, Waterbury, Beacon Falls, Harwinton, Litchfield, Naugatuck, Seymour, Thomaston, Trumbull, Watertown and Winchester beginning on July 8, 2024.
CTDOT Project 15-381 involves the signing replacement and exit renumbering on Route 8. The existing highway signs have exceeded their useful service life. The existing signs have less than adequate retro reflectivity, are in poor condition, and do not meet the current standards. The types of signs that will be replaced include, but are not limited to, large overhead and side mounted guide signs and smaller signs such as mile markers, exit gore signs, speed limit signs, merge signs, and route confirmation signs. Additionally, mileage-based exit number signs will be added on Route 8.
CTDOT Project No. 15-381 was awarded to The Quaker Corporation at a cost of $9,946,298.50 on October 8, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed November 26, 2024. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
