The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the planned opening of the Route 74 Bridge over the Skungamaug River near Skungamaug Road on August 6, 2024 in Tolland. The road opening signifies a substantial milestone on the project associated with a bridge replacement carrying Route 74 over the Skungamaug River.
CTDOT Project No. 0142-0152 was awarded to ROTHA Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $4,779,424.50 on August 16, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed on August 8, 2024. The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

Route 74 will be re-opened to the travelling public on August 6, 2024. Following this date, motorists can expect one-way alternating traffic on Route 74 (Tolland Stage Road) and Skungamaug Road until the remaining construction and utility work activities are completed. These lane closures may occur Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
