The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that repair work is scheduled for Route 8 northbound Harwinton/Torrington from the underpass of Route 118 to northbound beginning opposite Kennedy Drive Exit (Exits 42 to 45). The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 4.97-mile segment of the center travel lane on Route 8 northbound in Harwinton and Torrington. The milling and resurfacing of this project is scheduled to start on Monday, August 19 and is scheduled to be completed Friday, August 23, 2024.
This project is included in the CTDOT’s 2024 Maintenance Resurfacing Program.

Motorists can expect right lane and ramp closures on Route 8 northbound between Exits 42 to 45. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns/detours will guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
