The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the replacement of signs will be performed on secondary roads in the Greater Hartford area. This project is scheduled to start on October 27 and be completed on May 7, 2026. The project 171-491 consists of replacing post-mounted sheet aluminum signs on every State non-limited access roadway paved under the Vendor-In-Place (VIP) paving program between 2018 and 2021. All of the existing signs are to be evaluated to ensure their necessity, proper placement, and compliance with current sign requirements. This project is for signage in the Greater Hartford area, which has approximately 188 miles of non-limited access roadways paved under the VIP program.
CTDOT Project No. 0171-0491 was awarded to Discount Fence of Connecticut, LLC. at a cost of $2,199,913.30 on September 12, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed May 7, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be lane and shoulder closures as warranted on secondary roads from Monday, October 28 to Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic control signing patterns, municipal police and flaggers will be utilized as warranted to guide motorists through the work zones.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in these areas.
