Replacement of Bridge on Route 68 in Durham

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the implementation of one-way alternating traffic with a signalized intersection for a Bridge Replacement on Route 68 in the vicinity of Sawmill Brook in Durham. This project is scheduled to occur from September 21 and be completed on September 19, 2025. The project #0037-0103 consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 02442 on Route 68 in two stages in Durham. The curb-to-curb width of the roadway at the bridge will be widened to 34 ft to accommodate a 12-foot travel lane and 5-foot shoulder in each direction. Route 68 will be reconstructed to improve a sag curve and allow for stopping sight distance to meet current standards.

CTDOT Project No. 0037-0103 was awarded to New England Road, Inc. at a cost of $1,861,208.00 on August 22, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on September 19, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

One-way alternating traffic will be implemented on Route 68 between Brayson Drive and Ozick Drive beginning November 4, 2024, through September 19, 2025. This will be conducted using trailer mounted traffic signals to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
