Replacement of Bridge No. 00326 U.S. Route 1 Over Metro-North Railroad in Stratford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Route 1 (Barnum Avenue Cutoff) over the Metro North Railroad (Bridge No. 00326) will be reduced from 2-lanes in each direction to 1-lane in each direction, from Bridge No. 00326 to Veterans Boulevard beginning on June 28, 2024. The purpose of this project is to replace Bridge No. 00326 carrying Route 1 (Barnum Avenue Cutoff) over the Metro-North Railroad. This condition will extend from Bridge No. 00326 to Veterans Boulevard. This is a one block increase in length from the closure that commenced on October 12, 2023, which extended from Bridge No. 00326 to Longbrook Avenue.
CTDOT Project No. 0138-0245 was awarded to ROTHA Contracting, Inc. at a cost of $18,523,936.24 on May 10, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed on September 28, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District No. 3 in New Haven.
