The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the start of construction for Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB’s) in Fairfield, Greenwich, Hamden, Monroe, Trumbull, Wallingford, Westport, and Wilton will begin on November 2, 2024.
The purpose and need for the project is to install RRFB’s at uncontrolled, midblock crosswalks on municipally owned and maintained roads in Fairfield County. The project also includes installation and/or revision of curb ramps and associated sidewalk. RRFB’s, sidewalk, curb ramps, and signs will be owned and maintained by the municipality upon completion of the project.
CTDOT Project No. 0173-0547 was awarded to The NY Conn Corporation at a cost of $619,617.23 on September 18, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed July 24, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There may be lane closures in the various towns. Traffic control signing patterns, flaggers, municipal police officers, etc. will guide motorists through the work zone as needed. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in the areas.
