3/03/2024

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a pavement rehabilitation project on I-95 between exit 2 and 6 in both the north and southbound directions will begin on March 11, 2024. This project proposes to rehabilitate the existing bituminous pavement with a new more durable pavement mix. It is proposed to mill approximately 3” and place 2” Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) on top of 1” Binder Rich Interlayer Course (BRIC). Distressed areas that extend beyond the 3” mill will receive additional milling and patching with bituminous. Bridge work consists of SPMO (Strip, patch, membrane, and overlay), replacement of impacted joints and concrete haunch removal. Traffic loops and signal loops on ramps will be replaced. Additional work includes replacement of catch basin tops, replacement of small traffic signs with no foundations and replacement of pavement markings.

CTDOT Project No. 0056-0316 was awarded to Waters Construction Co Inc. at a cost of $61,283,925.38 on November 21, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
