The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that construction activities to improve the Metro-North Railroad (New Haven Mainline) Bridge No. 08028, over Osborne Avenue in Norwalk, will begin on Monday, July 29, 2024. The initial construction work consists of track-level work to install sheet piles in advance of significant upgrades to the bridge later this year.
Construction to replace the north side of the bridge begins in August 2024, and construction of the south side of the bridge in April 2026.
The Osborne Avenue Railroad Bridge Improvement Project includes a new superstructure and rehabilitates the substructure while maintaining the current vertical and horizontal clearances. The project, anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2026, is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.
