Lane and Nighttime Ramp Closures on I-91 Northbound, I-691 Westbound and Route 15 Northbound in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing lane closures and several intermittent ramps closures on I-91 northbound, I-691 westbound and Route 15 northbound will begin on Monday, May 06, 2024, and continue over the next several months. The lane and ramp closures are necessary to allow for saw cutting of concrete pavement, milling, paving, and temporary concrete barrier installation. The following ramps will be closed have nighttime Monday to Friday between 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM starting April 08, 2024:

  • East Main Street on-ramp to I-91 northbound, Route 15 northbound, and I-691 westbound off-ramp
  • Route 15 northbound off-ramp to I-91 northbound
  • Route 15 northbound off-ramp to East Main Street
  • I-91 northbound off-ramp to East Main Street

CTDOT Project No. 0079-0246 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $185,000,000 on January 29, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on November 30, 2028. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Division of Construction Operations, District 1 in Rocky Hill, CT.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

There will be lane closures on I-91 northbound Exit 15 to 18, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., along with Saturday through Sunday from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

There will be lane closures on Route 15 northbound from Exit 66 to Exit 68W on Monday from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and Sunday from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

DETOUR INFO

A detour for East Main Street on-ramp to I-91 northbound, Route 15 northbound, and I-691 westbound off-ramp will be posted directing traffic eastly on East Main Street to Preston Avenue and to the I-691 westbound on-ramp. Once motorists on I-691 westbound, and finally take Exit 1A for I-91 northbound or Exit 10 for Route 15 northbound.

A detour for Route 15 northbound Exit 68N-E off-ramp to I-91 northbound and Route 66 eastbound will be posted directing traffic to take Exit 68W onto I-691 westbound, then take Exit 28 to Lake Street then onto I-691 eastbound on-ramp and finally taking entering I-91 northbound at Exit 1A.

A detour for Route 15 northbound Exit 67 off-ramp to East Main Street will be posted directing traffic to take Exit 68N-E to I-91 Northbound, then take Exit 18 to Route 66 eastbound, then take Exit 1 to Preston Avenue and finally onto East Main Street.

A detour for I-91 northbound Exit 16 off-ramp to East Main Street will be posted to direct the traffic to take Exit 17 to Route 15 northbound, then take Exit 68N-E to I-91 northbound, then take Exit 18 to Route 66 eastbound, then take Exit 1 to Preston Avenue and finally take right onto East Main Street.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
