Installation of Signs for Horizontal Curves on I-395 and Route 2 in Norwich

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the replacement of curve warning signs, chevrons, and retro-reflective strips on the Exit 13 off-ramp on I-395 Southbound, the Exit 28N on ramp at Route 2 eastbound and at Exit 28S on-ramp on Route 2 westbound in Norwich. This project consists of replacing curve warning signs, chevrons, and retro-reflective strips material on new breakaway metal signposts at Exit 13. The expected duration of the detour is one (1) work shift from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. These upgrades will enhance visibility and conspicuity of the signs and curves to motorists and, are a proven safety countermeasure to minimize roadway departure crashes. 

 

DETOUR/CLOSURE INFO

Exit 13 I-395 Southbound to Route 2 Eastbound

Motorists can expect a temporary ramp closure to occur at Exit 13 ramp from I-395 southbound to Route 2 east in Norwich starting Sunday August 11, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 A.M. A detour will be in place at this location. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the work beginning. One (1) state trooper, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.  Traffic will be detoured to Interstate 395 SB Exit 11, eastbound on Route 82 to I-395 north on-ramp to Exit 13A.

 

Exit 28N Route 2 Eastbound to I-395 Northbound

Motorists can expect a temporary ramp closure to occur at Exit 28N ramp from Route 2 eastbound to I-395 north in Norwich starting Monday, August 12, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 A.M. A detour will be in place at this location. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the work beginning.  One (1) state trooper, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. Traffic will be detoured to Route 2 eastbound exit 28S, eastbound on Route 82 to Route I-395 northbound on-ramp.

 

Exit 28S Route 2 Westbound to I-395 Southbound

Motorists can expect a temporary ramp closure to occur at Exit 28S ramp from Route 2 westbound to I-395 south in Norwich on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  A detour will be in place at this location. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the work beginning. One (1) state trooper, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. Traffic will be detoured to Route 2 westbound exit 25, eastbound on Route 642 to Route 2 eastbound, then to Exit 28S to 395 southbound.
