The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a guiderail and attenuator installation on Route 8 north and southbound in Bridgeport. This night work is scheduled to occur Monday, August 5 through Friday, November 1, 2024.
This project is included in the CTDOT’s safety improvement program and is being performed by Total Fence.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 8 northbound, from the entrance ramp from I-95 southbound (Exit27A) to Route 25 (Henry Mucci Highway) in Bridgeport and lane closures on Route 8 southbound from Route 25 (Henry Mucci Highway) to the entrance ramp to I-95 southbound in Bridgeport.

The Route 8 northbound Exit 5 on-ramp will be closed on Thursday night, September 19, 2024 with a rain date of Monday night, September 23. The detour is as follows: Chopsey Hill Road to right (north) on Reservoir Avenue then right onto Sylvan Avenue then right onto Seltsam Road then right onto Old Town Road then left onto Route 25 northbound or straight to get onto Route 8 northbound.
The Exit 1 on-ramp to Route 8 will be closed on Thursday night, September 26, 2024 with a rain date of Monday night, September 30. The detour is Prospect Street to Lafayette Blvd. to Lafayette Circle to Fairfield Ave to the Exit 2 on-ramp.
The Exit 2 off-ramp will be closed for three (3) nights, September 4, 5 and 9, 2024. The detour is Route 8 northbound to Exit 4 off-ramp to Lindley Street to Housatonic Avenue to Water Street to Fairfield Avenue
The Exit 2 on-ramp will be closed for three (3) nights, September 5, 9, and 10, 2024. The detour is Fairfield Avenue to Lafayette Circle to Lafayette Blvd. to Prospect Street
The Exit 3 on-ramp will be closed for four (4) nights, August 29, September 3, 4, and 5, 2024. The detour is Main Street to Housatonic Avenue to North Avenue to Chopsey Hill Road.
The ramp closures are scheduled to occur between August 22, 2024, and September 20, 2024.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday night through Friday morning. No work will be performed from 6:00 a.m. Friday, August 30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024, due to the Labor Day Holiday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
