The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a 63-hour full bridge closures for motor vehicles on Route 82 over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge) starting January 14, 2024.
The scheduled time for this closure will be from Sunday, January 14 at 8:00 p.m. until Wednesday January 17 at 11:00 a.m.
Pedestrians and cyclists are advised that during this 63-hour closure, the bridge will be closed to them as well.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could result in a rescheduling of this 63-hour road closure and any changes to this schedule will be communicated in a timely manner.

CTDOT Project No. 0041-0141 was awarded to American Bridge Company at a cost of $55,255,000 on June 7, 2022. It is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

Route 82 Eastbound
From Route 82 East, traffic will be detoured onto Route 9 South to I-95 North (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 156 North to Route 82 West.
Route 82 Westbound
From Route 82 West, traffic will be detoured onto Route 156 South to I-95 South (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 9 North to Route 82 East.
If traveling to/from the North - utilize the Arrigoni Bridge, Middletown-Portland (unsigned route).
