Construction Work on Route 68 in Durham

9/20/2024

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of work on Route 68 in the area of Sawmill Brook beginning on September 21, 2024. This project consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 02442 on Route 68 in two stages in Durham. The curb-to-curb width of the roadway at the bridge will be widened to 34 ft to accommodate a 12-foot travel lane and 5-foot shoulder in each direction. Route 68 will be reconstructed to improve a sag curve and allow for stopping sight distance to meet current standards.

CTDOT Project No. 0037-0103 was awarded to New England Road, Inc. at a cost of $1,861,208.00 on August 22, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on September 19, 2025.  The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Beginning on September 21, 2024, with anticipated completion of September 19, 2025, motorists can expect temporary traffic control utilizing one-way alternating traffic on Route 68 between Pent Road and Ozick Drive until the signalized one-way alternating traffic is implemented for the duration of the project.
