Beam End Repairs on Route 9 in Middletown, Tolland, Southington, Meriden, Rocky Hill, Plainville, Cromwell, New Britain, East Hartford, and Wethersfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the continuation of construction for a bridge rehabilitation project on Route 9 in Middletown, Tolland, Southington, Meriden, Rocky Hill, Plainville, Cromwell, New Britain, East Hartford, and Wethersfield.

The project will be starting work at the Route 9 and 72 interchange at Stanley Street in New Britain.

Work in New Britain on Route 9 and the Route 72 interchange will include temporary barrier at the Stanley Street overpass closing shoulders for access to the bridge. Work will also involve the removal of the wearing surface on Stanley Street affecting local traffic in New Britain. 

CTDOT Project No. 0171-0484 was awarded to McNamee Construction Co, Inc. at a cost of $19,674,000 on December 22, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed by November 14, 2025.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Beginning in March 2024, motorists can expect shoulder closures on Route 9 and 72 at the interchange with lane closures nightly between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and Stanley Street with bridge deck work and lane shifts daily between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
