Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Commissioner Peter H. O’Meara testified today before the Public Health and Human Services Committees on the conversion of 17 publicly operated group homes to DDS qualified private provider agencies that have proven experience will be selected through an RFP process. It is necessary for DDS to convert these homes as a result of the recent Retirement Incentive Program (RIP). DDS had 395 employees retire as of July 1, 2009 of which 162 were direct care workers.
