Meet the Commissioner

DDS Commissioner Jordan A. Scheff

Elisa Velardo, Commissioner

Elisa Velardo has dedicated her career to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For more than ten years, she has served the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services in a wide range of roles, most recently as Deputy Commissioner. Elisa began her work in the field as a Direct Support Professional and went on to serve as a Respite Coordinator, Employment Specialist, Director of Day and Residential Services, and Executive Director before serving as DDS Deputy Commissioner. She continues to commit herself each day to ensuring that all individuals receive the supports they need to live full and meaningful lives.
