The role of Forensic Services is to ensure the Department of Developmental Services’ (DDS) compliance with Connecticut General Statutes §54-56d (a) through (r) relating to competency to stand trial for individuals served by DDS who are involved with the courts and the criminal justice system. Forensic Services collaborates with all stakeholders to ensure individuals have access to the support and services they and DDS need to be in compliance with court orders.  The unit develops policies and procedures to meet the levels of need and supervision for individuals served by DDS who are court-involved.
