The Roaring 20’s Antique and Classic Car Club, Inc. recently presented Southbury Training School (STS) Director Eugene Harvey with a plaque in appreciation of the school’s support.

For the past 39 years, the largest one day antique and classic car show in New England has been held at STS. The club donates all of their profits to STS, which is home to individuals with developmental disabilities.

In addition to honoring Mr. Harvey, the Club’s President Robert D’Amico and Car Show Chairman Art Munter presented a large cardboard check announcing the over $300,000 in profits from the car show that has been donated to STS over the three decades.

“Our donations have always been used to enhance the lives of STS residents,” said Mr. D’Amico. “In the past, we have provided the funds for the pavilion and swimming pool on campus.”

According to Mr. Munter, also a former president of the club, 1990 was the largest year they ever had for the show. Over 10,000 people and 1,100 cars showed up for the one day event.

“In a normal year, we usually have about 5,000 to 6,000 people and 800 to 900 cars,” said Mr. Munter. “ We only include cars built before 1971.”

The 2009 Roaring 20’s Antique and Classic Car Club show will be held on September 20th with a rain date of September 27th on the great lawn of STS in Southbury, CT.
