October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

This October marks the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year’s theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” honors and recognizes the diverse contributions and achievements of individuals with disabilities in the workplace.

Governor Ned Lamont has officially proclaimed October 2025 as Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) in Connecticut, stating, “NDEAM highlights the importance of inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit both employers and employees. Connecticut is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workforce where people of all abilities are appreciated and integrated into the business community, enriching the diverse tapestry of our workplace and our state.”

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is proud to celebrate NDEAM and reaffirms its commitment to creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. As such, the DAS Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Center of Excellence hosted an educational seminar on October 1, 2025, to educate agency employees about the historical contributions of Deaf and Deafblind workers in Connecticut. Additionally, the DAS will participate in the 13th Annual Disability Resource Fair on October 17, 2025. During this event, the DAS EEO unit will share valuable insights about the diverse career opportunities and comprehensive benefits available through employment with the State of Connecticut.
