Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Statewide Leasing and Property Transfer presented an overview of its real estate services to state agencies and the Judicial Branch on June 12, 2024. Shane Mallory, Administrator of Statewide Leasing and Property Transfer, opened the meeting to more than 55 people from agencies across the state for the 22nd year. DAS Commissioner Michelle Gilman and Darren Hobbs, Deputy Commissioner of Real Estate and Construction Services provided opening remarks highlighting the important work the dedicated and professional team do daily and the importance of agencies working with the DAS real estate team. Paul Hinsch, Policy Director of Asset Management at the Office of Policy, and Management (OPM) co-presented with Shane for the hour-long session.
The purpose of the annual meeting is to ensure that all agencies are fully informed about the leasing/property transfer and assignment of space process, in DAS’s continuing effort to reduce the amount of time the process takes and to ensure all involved are following statues. Moreover, DAS is actively working with agencies and OPM and other stakeholders in reducing the State’s real estate footprint to reduce costs to taxpayers.
During the meeting, agencies had the opportunity to chat with the outstanding real estate team of brokers and professionals, that specialize in overseeing the state’s unique real estate portfolio:

DAS Statewide Leasing and Property Transfer handles real estate matters including leasing, purchase, and sale of real property for all executive branch agencies (excluding Department of Transportation, Department of Labor and UConn) and the Judicial Branch.
As of June 30, 2023, DAS has 201 leases and lease-outs totaling 1.7 million net usable square feet.
