Read time: 6 minutes

DAS is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) as required by Special Act 21-25 – AN ACT CONCERNING BLOCKCHAIN AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain.

Companies that respond to the RFI will:

  • Identify the economic growth and development opportunities presented by blockchain technology.
  • Assess the existing blockchain industry in the state.
  • Review workforce needs and academic programs required to build blockchain expertise across all relevant industries, and
  • Make legislative recommendations that will help promote innovation and economic growth by reducing barriers to and expediting the expansion of the state's blockchain industry.

DAS procurement is issuing this RFI to gain a better understanding of blockchain technology and how the business community can help us further technological advancements in the State of Connecticut.

Responses to the RFI are due to DAS by November 8, 2021, and vendor questions must be received no later than October 14, 2021.
