1. What do you do?

I am an Accounts Examiner Intern for Internal Audit.

2. Why do you work for the State of Connecticut?

I chose to work for the State of Connecticut because I felt it would be the best environment for me to learn and gain important skills to help me in the future.

3. What do you love about your internship so far?

I love that I get to work with and learn from such amazing people, the atmosphere in the office is just something else. It is very rare nowadays to find that, and I’m very lucky to be able to work here.

4. What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?

My favorite activities outside of work and school include hanging out with my friends, riding horses and spending time with my little sister.

5. Where is your favorite place that you have traveled?

Although I have been up and down the East Coast throughout my life, I would have to say that Myrtle Beach is my absolute favorite place to visit. Every summer, I would go with family and friends to this campground at the beach where I always made a ton of friends, some of whom came all the way from Canada. My favorite places to go while on vacation were the boardwalk, Broadway at the beach, and a place called Mt. Atlanticus Minotaur Mini Golf.

6. What would you tell someone who is interested in working for the state?

I would say that working for the State is a great place to start your career, not only is the environment caring, but also understanding that you have a life outside of work.

7. Where is your favorite place in Connecticut?

I currently ride and volunteer at a 501c3 horse rescue in Chaplin called Little Treasures Farm, they have a wide variety of horses from little miniature horses to a giant draft. The horse I ride there currently is a six-year-old mare who was pulled out of an interesting situation named Morgan. I just love the work they do there and am glad that I can help the cause wherever I can.

8. If you could choose one superpower, what would it be, and why?

If I could choose a superpower, I would choose to be able to read minds. I am a huge advocate for mental health and love to help people when I can. It would be amazing to be able to read minds because I would be able to figure out who was having a bad day and make it better. Sometimes it feels like I already have this superpower because working with animals has taught me that you don’t always need verbal communication, just body language.

9. Who inspires you and why?

The person who inspired me the most was my high school accounting teacher Ms. Flynn. She taught me everything I knew about accounting going into college, and she made the class so enjoyable that I wanted it to be something I did for the rest of my life. She pushed me so much that I was inducted into the National Business Honors Society in my senior year, and I thank her for helping me through my toughest times in school. I hope retirement treats her well.

10. Tell us your favorite fun fact.

On top of my professional work goals, I aspire to compete more and place well in horse shows. I like to ride all types of disciplines but my top two would include jumping and barrel racing.
