Welcome to the webpage for Project 300-199, Customer Service Initiative Upgrades along the New Haven Line, New Canaan Branch, and Danbury Branch Lines.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.

The project will modernize and enhance passenger communication, accessibility, and the overall customer experience at 28 Metro-North Railroad stations along the New Haven, New Canaan Branch, and Danbury Branch Lines. Specifically, the updates include:

  • Installation of new public address systems to provide clearer audio announcements
  • Replacement of aging platform displays with modern, easy-to-read digital LED signs
  • Implementation of a new visual information system to deliver real-time train and service information
  • New arrival/departure boards and customer information displays on each platform
  • Upgrades to supporting power, fiber, and communications cabinets to ensure reliable system operation
  • Replacement of station signage to create a consistent and easy-to-navigate rider experience

Stations include: Bethel, Branchville, Bridgeport, Cannondale, Cos Cob, Danbury, Darien, East Norwalk, Fairfield, Fairfield-Black Rock, Glenbrook, Green’s Farms, Greenwich, Merritt 7, Milford, New Canaan, Norton Heights, Old Greenwich, Redding, Riverside, Rowayton, Southport, South Norwalk, Springdale, Talmadge Hill, Westport, West Haven, Wilton

Right-of-way impacts are not expected.

Installation is expected to start spring 2027, depending on funding. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $43 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 100% state funds.
