Welcome to the webpage for Project 173-549, Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) Upgrades in Southern Connecticut (Branford, Bridgeport, Darien, Guilford, Milford, New Haven, North Haven, Norwalk, Orange, Trumbull, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge).
A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.
This project involves providing pedestrian pedestals, APS pushbuttons, countdown signal heads, sidewalk ramps, and leading pedestrian intervals (LPI) at various locations. These features will meet accessibility and traffic control requirements and will enhance safety at several traffic signals for both pedestrians and vehicles

Right-of-way impacts are expected to be minimal around some project intersections. Construction is expected to start in 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits.The estimated cost is approximately $6 million, with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
