Welcome to the webpage for Project 174-470, Rehabilitation of Bridge Nos. 00606, 01730, 01733, 01734, and 03359 Carrying Route 8 in Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston.
A virtual public information meeting for the project will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. The project involves the rehabilitation of Bridge Nos. 01733 and 01734 in Harwinton, Bridge No. 00606 in Litchfield, and Bridge Nos. 01730 and 03359 in Thomaston.
The rehabilitation of these five bridges will improve safety for travelers along the Route 8 corridor. Right-of-way impacts are not anticipated.
Construction is expected to start in 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $23 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
