Welcome to the webpage for Project No. 101-119, Replacement of Culvert Carrying Route 201 over Ashwillet Brook in North Stonington.
A hybrid public informational meeting for the project will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Stonington Education Center at 298 Norwich-Westerly Rd. in North Stonington. This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. The virtual option will be held on Zoom, and registration is required to attend online.
The project involves the replacement of a deteriorated twin corrugated metal pipe culvert that conveys Ashwillet Brook under Route 201. The existing culvert has experienced section loss, joint separation, associated washouts, and void formation. The project also includes improvements to roadway drainage structures.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements include partial acquisitions, slope easements, and rights.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2029 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $5 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
