Project 0058-0341

Welcome to the webpage for Intersection Improvements on Route 614 at I-95 Northbound & Southbound Ramps in Groton.

An in-person public information meeting for the project will be held on December 10, 2026, at Thrive55+ Active Living Center: Powered by Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road, Groton, Connecticut, 06340. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an open house forum, followed by a formal presentation starting at 7:00 p.m. and an additional question & answer session after the presentation.

This meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow for an open discussion of any comments and questions regarding the proposed project.

The purpose of the project is to improve safety and reduce congestion along Route 614 at its intersections with the I-95 northbound and southbound ramps and Sandy Hollow Road. The project includes the installation of three modern roundabouts along Route 614, which will include raised splitter islands on the approaches to reduce speeding through the intersections. A side path will be constructed along the western side of Route 614, providing a continuous pedestrian and bicyclist path between the northern and southern limits of the project. Additional sidewalk connections will be included with the roundabout at Sandy Hollow Road. Minor right-of-way impacts are anticipated in the vicinity of the intersection of Route 614 with Sandy Hollow Road due to the proposed improvements.

Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2029, subject to the availability of funding, acquisition of right(s)-of-way, and approval of associated permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $16 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
