Project 0172-0541 Webpage

Welcome to the webpage for Project 0172-0541, Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) Upgrades in Eastern Connecticut.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.

This project involves providing pedestrian pedestals, APS pushbuttons, countdown signal heads, sidewalk ramps, and leading pedestrian intervals (LPI) at various locations in the region. Meeting accessibility and traffic control requirements, these features are expected to improve pedestrian usage at traffic signals and reduce pedestrian/vehicles crashes.

Right-of-way impacts are expected to be minimal around new pedestrian equipment and sidewalks at some project intersections.

Construction is expected to start spring 2028 depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $6 million, with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
