General Information / Frequently-Asked Questions:

Are paper applications available?
All of OSFM’s applications and renewals are online.  We continually seek to make the online application and renewal processes as user-friendly as possible, and we welcome your recommendations for doing so.

I think I have a username, but I don’t remember it.  What should I do?
Please email osfm.online@ct.gov with your name, credential number, and any other information that you can provide.  We will look up your username for you.  Please do not create an additional online account.

How do I pay fees?
You will have the opportunity to pay fees online with a credit or debit card.

How do I renew my license/registration?
Approximately 45 days before your license/registration’s expiration date, OSFM will email you a renewal notice that contains a Fast Track PIN and instructions for your online renewal.

I don’t think I received a renewal notice.  What should I do?
First, check your spam or junk email folder.  If you still do not see a renewal notice and your credential’s expiration date is in fewer than 45 days, it is possible that we have a different email address on file for you (perhaps one that is no longer in use).  Please contact osfm.online@ct.gov with your new information.

My mailing address and phone number have changed.  What should I do?
If you are completing an online renewal, you will have the opportunity to update your contact information online.  If your renewal is not upcoming, please email your information changes to us at osfm.online@ct.gov.

I have completed my online application/renewal – how long will it take for me to get my license/certificate?
Because all applications and renewals must be reviewed by OSFM Staff, your certificate will not immediately arrive in your email inbox.  Processing times can vary by credential type, and approvals of new applications typically take longer than renewals of existing licenses.  Please allow at least five business days before inquiring about the status of your application or renewal (via email osfm.online@ct.gov.)

My certificate looks weird – some of the letters have been replaced by strange characters.  What’s wrong?
If you are opening your certificate on an Apple device, a glitch may prevent characters from being displayed properly.  Our IT staff is aware of this glitch; for now, we recommend viewing and printing your certificate from a different device not using the iOS operating system.
