DOT Project 0011-0160 Webpage

Welcome to the webpage for Project 0011-0160, Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Replacement Route 218 (Cottage Grove Road), in the Town of Bloomfield.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation.

This state project is located along Route 218 from Cigna Way/Bay Hill Drive (Int. No. 011-224 to the west) to Granby Street (Int. No. 011-233 to the east). The project has been initiated to replace the aging traffic signal infrastructure along this section of Route 218, as needed for a state of good repair, by replacing the existing Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS). The purpose of the project is to allow Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) to continue the deployment and use of advanced traffic signal technology to monitor and reduce travel times, upgraded traffic signal detection, using non-intrusive sensors to provide additional detection and visual capabilities.

There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. The impacts are minimal around existing signal equipment and sidewalks at most project intersections.

Construction is anticipated to begin Fall 2025 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s).  The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $10,844,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.

The project description and location map can be viewed here.
