Scope of  Work

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is expanding the existing statewide highway traffic camera system along Interstate 91 from Exit 22 (Route 9) to Exit 18 (I-691) and along the entire length of I-691 in the central Connecticut.

    Project Number 171-413 will install 15 new traffic cameras on I-91 and Project Number 171-414 will install 14 new traffic cameras and 3 new electronic variable message signs on I-691.


The traffic cameras and electronic variable message signs will assist CTDOT to better manage traffic incidents and provide up to date traffic conditions and travel times to emergency responders, media and motorists in the project area.
     

Status

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed by the Spring of 2018, with construction anticipated to start Spring 2019, assuming acceptance of the project and the availability of funding. This project will be undertaken with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
