Welcome to the webpage for State Project No. 0169-0131, the Replacement of Bridge No. 04814 Kenyonville Road over Still River in Woodstock.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.
The purpose of the project is to address the poor condition of the current structure by designing a new bridge that meets all current design and load standards, improving safety for all roadway users
The purpose of the project is to address the poor condition of the current bridge by designing a replacement that meets all current design standards, improves safety, and extends its service life.
Bridge No. 04814 is structurally deficient due to poor condition of the deck and the superstructure, its inability to carry legal loads, and the age (78 years) exceeding design service life (50-75 years).
The new bridge will provide a 32’-0” hydraulic opening meeting 1.2 times bankfull width of the channel, improving hydraulic performance. Full depth pavement reconstruction of the approaches within 425 feet of project limits is also proposed along with drainage improvements.
The construction will be accomplished utilizing a 12’ wide temporary bridge that will be installed just north of the existing bridge with stop-sign controlled alternating one-way traffic operation.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements include partial permanent takes, drainage ROW, and permanent slope easements on a total of three properties.
Construction is expected to start spring 2027, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $4 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
To minimize impacts to commuters and school buses, the detour is proposed only during the 10-week school summer vacation subsequent to which an alternating one-way traffic operation will be maintained over the proposed bridge until the bridge construction is complete.
