Welcome to the webpage for State Project No. 0118-0191, Sidewalk Implementation on Route 99 and Intersection Improvements at Exit 24 on I-91 in Rocky Hill
An in-person public information meeting was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was at the Rocky Hill Community/Senior Center, 55 Church Street in Rocky Hill. The meeting location was ADA accessible.
The public information meeting was held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place in-person. A question and answer (Q&A) session immediately followed the presentation.
The purpose of this project is to improve pedestrian safety by removing the slip lanes at the interchange and replacing them with dedicated turn lanes, reducing the number and length of pedestrian crossings. Sidewalks will be added on both sides of Route 99, connecting the existing sidewalks to address the existing gap in the pedestrian network within the project limits. Full signal upgrades and integration into the Computerized Traffic Signal System are also included.
Right-of-way impacts are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2027, based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights-of-way, and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost is approximately $6 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
