Project 0063-0737 Webpage
Welcome to the webpage for Project 0063-0737, rehabilitation of Founders Bridge (Bridge No. 00371A) in Hartford and East Hartford.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The recording of that event can be accessed at the CTDOT Virtual Public Information Meeting Video Library.
The purpose of the project is to increase the service life of the structure by replacing bridge deck joints, removing the abandoned moveable inspection platform, repairing bridge deck concrete, increasing the substandard load rating capacity, and maintain the bridge in a State of Good Repair.
There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements to access the underside of the bridge resulting in temporary impacts to pedestrian and bicycle access requiring temporary construction easements.
Construction is anticipated to begin Fall 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $22.3 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
