Welcome to the webpage for Project 0063-0731, Rehabilitation of flyover Bridge No. 05868 Carrying I-84 EB to I-91 NB in Hartford.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project was on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The recording of that event can be accessed at the CTDOT Virtual Public Information Meeting Video Library.
The primary purpose of this project is to address the operational, safety and preventative maintenance concerns as well as to evaluate and if necessary, improve the structural integrity of the bridge to a “state of good repair” extending its useful service life.
Bridge No. 05868, also known as the I-84 Flyover Bridge, is a nine-span curved girder structure comprised of steel box girders with a reinforced concrete deck. The bridge was built in 1990 carrying Interstate 84 (I-84) Eastbound (EB) Turning Road 839 (TR 839) to Interstate 91 (I-91) over I-84/I-91 ramps and CSO railroad.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin Spring 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $7.32 Million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
