Welcome to the webpage for Project 0055-0147 Replacement of Bridge Carrying Route 189 over East Branch Salmon Brook in Granby.
A public informational meeting for the project was held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Granby Town Hall (15 North Granby Road, Granby, CT, 06035). The recording of that event can be accessed at the CTDOT Virtual Public Information Meeting Video Library.
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing bridge, prioritizing improved safety and durability for roadway users. This project involves the replacement of Bridge No. 02805 which received an overall poor condition rating of four, during the latest (2023) bridge inspection report. The proposed structure is a three-sided precast concrete frame founded on bedrock with a curb-to-curb width of 34 feet and a span length of 20 feet.
Right-of-way impacts are associated with this project. Route 189 will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration of construction. The proposed detour is approximately 24 miles using state routes.
Construction is anticipated to begin fall 2026. The estimated cost for this project is approximately $2.3 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
