Public Information Meeting Sidewalk Implementation on Route 99 in Rocky Hill

5/21/2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct an in-person public information meeting concerning sidewalk implementation on Route 99 and intersection improvements at Exit 24 on I-91 in Rocky Hill at the Rocky Hill Community/Senior Center, located at 55 Church Street in Rocky Hill, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting location is ADA accessible.

A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation.  A set of minutes will be taken. For additional information, please visit portal.ct.gov/DOTRockyHill0118-0191.

“This project will improve pedestrian safety by installing dedicated turn lanes, reducing the number and length pedestrian crossings, and connecting the existing sidewalks on Route 99 to address the gap in the pedestrian network within the project limits,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager David Mancini. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

Right-of-way impacts are not anticipated.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2027, based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights-of-way, and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost is approximately $6 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.

Individuals with hearing and/or speech disabilities may dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).  Individuals may also request that project information be mailed to them within one week of the meeting by contacting Melanie Zimyeski, at Melanie.Zimyeski@ct.gov or (860) 594-2144.

Language assistance may be requested by contacting CTDOT’s Language Assistance call Line (860) 594-2109. Requests should be made at least five business days prior to the meeting. Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public and efforts will be made to respond to timely requests for assistance.

Members of the public may submit comments and questions during the two-week public comment period following the meeting. Please submit comments and questions by Tuesday, July 8, 2025, to DOTProject0118-0191@ct.gov, or Melanie Zimyeski at Melanie.Zimyeski@ct.gov and (860) 594-2144.  Please reference State Project No. 0118-0191 in your email or voicemail.
