The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the Southeast Area Transit District (SEAT) Facility Expansion on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. “This project will support SEAT’s transition to a fully electric transit system by expanding the current facility for the operation and maintenance of an all-electric fleet,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Charles Wiegert. “The project includes the design and construction of a new indoor charging and storage area for electric buses and paratransit vehicles, and the construction of solar panels as a power source for the facility.”
There are no anticipated right-of-way impacts with the proposed project.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2027 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $50 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
