The existing structure was built in 1951 and consists of a 41’-0” single span steel multi-girder bridge. The bridge out-to-out width is 51’-0” and the curb-to-curb roadway width is 46’-0” which includes an 8’-0” sidewalk on the south side of the existing structure. The average daily traffic (ADT) is approximately 7,400 vehicles per day with 7% truck traffic according to the most recent inspection report.
The 2024 Bridge Inspection Report states the deck and superstructure are in poor condition (Rating 4) and the substructure is in fair condition (Rating 5). The inspection report notes extensive section loss on the girders. Additionally, the inspection report notes that the deck and substructure have significant cracking with areas of efflorescence. The 2024 Load Rating report shows the bridge has a rating factor below 1.0 for one permit and emergency vehicle.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2027, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2028, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal and twenty percent (20%) State funds.
