The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (CTDOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans to replace the Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) along Route 10 in Cheshire.
The project involves the full replacement of the traffic signal equipment at fourteen intersections and new fiber optic interconnect at nineteen intersections within the Route 10 corridor as summarized on the attached list. In addition, where applicable, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded to meet current Department standards. The replacement of the Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) communications system will establish reliable fiber optic communication connections between the signalized intersections with wireless communications back to the CTDOT’s Newington Administration building and will allow for the implementation of advanced technologies to monitor traffic and reduce travel times. The CTDOT will coordinate with the town of Cheshire during the design phase.
