Public Information Meeting Regarding Multiple Stations along the Waterbury Line

10/30/2024

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will host two hybrid public information meetings to discuss planned improvements to the Waterbury, Beacon Falls, Seymour, Ansonia, and Derby-Shelton stations. The first meeting will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Waterbury City Hall (Veterans Memorial Hall), located at 235 Grand Street in Waterbury. The second meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ansonia Senior Center located at 65 Main Street in Ansonia.

These hybrid public information meetings are being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed projects. Q&A sessions will immediately follow the presentations, which will be recorded. Registration is required to attend virtually. To register for the virtual meetings and more information, visit http://portal.ct.gov/DOTProject304-22-24.

“The revitalization of the Waterbury line stations and traveler amenities will modernize connections between downtown Waterbury and the region, enhancing accessibility and the commuter experience,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Engineer Deborah Silva. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

In addition, the southern part of the Republican-American building in Waterbury Station will be renovated to include an indoor waiting area with seating and restrooms for travelers. There will also be private offices for station employees.

Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2025. The estimated construction cost for these projects is approximately $106 million using 100% state funds.

Right-of-way impacts are anticipated in Seymour and Ansonia during the platform improvement portion of the project.
