Roadwork on a Portion of I-91 Northbound Exit 29 Ramp and Route 5/15 Northbound Approaching the Charter Oak Bridge in Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge deck work with lane closures on Interstate 91 Northbound Exit 29 and Route 5/15 Northbound will begin on Friday, May 6, 2022.

 

The bridge deck work, including milling, applying a waterproof membrane, paving, and striping, is necessary to complete the construction of the bridge as part of the I-91 Charter Oak Bridge Project.

 

CTDOT Project number 0063-0703 and 0159-0191 was awarded to O&G / BHD, Joint Venture at a cost of $212 million. Work began on April 1, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed by October 18, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Hartford, CT.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

The right lane of I-91 Northbound Exit 29, and the left lane of Route 5/15 Northbound approaching the Charter Oak Bridge, in Hartford, will be continuously closed to traffic for construction work beginning Friday, May 6 at 9 p.m. (Mother’s Day weekend) and ending on Wednesday, May 11, at 6 a.m., weather permitting.

 

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone, and to follow the lane shift directions.
