The project consists of the installation of overhead fiber-optic cables over I-84 Eastbound and Westbound in the vicinity of Exit 8 in the Town of Newtown. Work will involve lane closures, slowdowns, and possible stoppages of up to 10 minutes at a time between the hours 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
DOT Project No. 0034-0347 was awarded to Empire Paving at a cost of $9,189,529.05 on January 22, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2022. The work is being administered by District 4 Construction in Thomaston.

Traffic impacts are expected to occur on the evening of January 13, 2022, between the hours 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Should this work be cancelled due to inclement weather, work will be performed on January 20, 2022, between the hours 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
