The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the nighttime closure of the on ramp on Interstate 691 westbound at Exit 5 on or around April 25. Work will continue through May 2 at various ramp locations.
The project consists of resurfacing, bridge rehabilitations, safety improvements, signing upgrades and illumination replacement. Preliminary work will include pavement coring/sampling and drainage structure inspections.
DOT Project No. 0079-0244 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $48,865,177.75 on December 30, 2020. Construction is scheduled to start in September 2021 and to be completed in October 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE and DETOUR INFO
During the week of April 25, the I-691 westbound on ramp from Chamberlain Highway will be closed temporarily. Traffic will be directed to take Kensington Avenue, then to Colony Street, and then onto I-691 westbound.
