8/13/2020

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a scheduled  traffic shift and overnight ramp closures for construction activities associated with the rehabilitation of the Yankee Doddle Bridge over the Norwalk River in Norwalk.

Activity is anticipated to begin no earlier than August 17, 2020, and will impact the northbound and southbound directions of I-95 and the corresponding northbound Exit 15 on-ramp from West Avenue to the Exit 16 off-ramp to East Avenue, and the southbound Exit 16 on-ramp from East Avenue to Exit 15 off ramp to Route 7 and West Avenue.

The traffic shift will begin on or about August 17, 2020, weather permitting and will involve the closure of the right lanes on the bridge in the southbound direction of I-95.   Southbound traffic will then be shifted to the north maintaining four (4) travel lanes open on I-95 southbound.  I-95 northbound direction will also be shifted to the north and maintain the same four (4) lanes, but in a new configuration. Shoulder and travel lanes will be closed in order to perform concrete barrier relocations, paving, and other bridge rehabilitation activities associated with this shift. This work will require intermediate interferences and closures of the I-95 northbound Exit 15 on-ramp from West Avenue to northbound Exit 16 off-ramp to East Avenue and the I-95 southbound Exit 16 on-ramp from East Avenue.  These ramp closures will be only be overnight and detours will be in place to re-route traffic as necessary. Work will be performed at night.

Existing ramp operations from the West Avenue on ramp of I-95 northbound Exit 15 to I-95 Exit 16 off-ramp for East Avenue are anticipated to be interfered with on or about August 25 through August 29.

Existing ramp operations from the East Avenue on–ramp of I-95 southbound Exit 16 to the I-95 Exit 15 off-ramp for Route 7 northbound and West Avenue are anticipated to be interfered with beginning on August 17th – 18th.
