Milling and Paving on Route 349 Expressway and Non-Expressway Sections from I-95 to Shennecossett Road in Groton

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime pavement preservation project will be performed on Route 349 northbound and southbound in Groton on the expressway and non-expressway portions, from I-95 to Shennecossett Road. The milling operations will begin on September 14th 2020, with paving operations expected to begin on September 19th 2020.

The project consists of milling and repaving 4.06 miles of Route 349 including roadway ramps within the project limits:

- NB Exit to US 1 (001)

- NB ACC to SB I-95 (TR 821)

- NB ACC to SB US 1 (005)

- SB Exit to US 1 (003)

- SB ACC FR US 1 (002)

This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2019 Pavement Preservation Program.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Temporary traffic impacts (consisting of daily shoulder and/or lane closures) can be expected for project completion.

Milling and paving operations are scheduled from 6:00pm to 6:00am every night beginning Sept 14th.

The contractor will work 24 hours a day Saturday and Sunday September 19th & 20th, as well as September 26th and 27th.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit, to remain alert, and to use caution in any work zone.
