Route 219

Reconstruction and Safety Improvements

New Hartford, CT- The Department of Transportation announced today, weather permitting, Route 219 (Reservoir Road) will be closed to through traffic between Route 44 (New Hartford Road) in the Town of New Hartford to the intersection of Route 318 (Saville Dam Road) in the Town of Barkhamsted on June 21, 2007, to perform storm drainage installations.  These operations are in preparation for the reconstruction of Route 219.  Bourgeous and Shaw, Inc. of Simsbury, CT will be performing this work. 

The detour will be in effect from June 21, 2007 to October 21, 2007 (Four Months) with the exception of July 4th.The road will be open to traffic on July 4th only. Motorists are advised to utilize the posted detour; Local traffic will be allowed. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.

Anticipated Detour:

Motorists traveling south on East Hartland Road (Route 219) will be detoured onto Saville Dam Road (Route 318).  Continue west on Saville Dam Road to Pleasant Valley Road (Route 318).  Take a left onto Pleasant Valley Road.  Pleasant Valley Road becomes Ripley Hill Road over the Farmington River.  Continue on Ripley Hill Road to the intersection with New Hartford Road (Route 44).  Take a left onto New Hartford and follow to the end of the detour.

Motorists traveling north on New Hartford Road (Route 44) will continue past Reservoir Road (Route 219) to the intersection of New Hartford Road and Ripley Hill Road (Route 318).  Take a right onto Ripley Hill Road.  Ripley Hill Road becomes Pleasant Valley Road over the Farmington River.  Continue on Pleasant Valley Road (Route 318) to the intersection with Saville Dam Road.  Take a right onto Saville Dam Road (Route 318) and continue to the end of the detour approximately 2 miles. 

Construction signs and a temporary traffic signal will be utilized for traffic control.
